Kerin Morgan

Owner/Lead Instructor

mom and dad

Her names are as broad as her experience. Referred to as "Super Nanny in water", "Anne Sullivan of swimming", and the "Swim Whisperer"- Kerin and her family's swim school have become synonymous with working miracles with kids in and out of the water. Kerin has been teaching swim lessons for more than 39 years. Her swim career began with competitive swimming in Texas and continued through a semester at University of Texas before she left competitive swimming to focus on her studies as a nursing student. Her teaching career began as a girl at her parent's home in Texas. She then expanded her skills to include aquatic fitness, special needs and adults. The MSS techniques were developed through her research and experience both in and out of the water. Kerin maintains certifications for First Aid, CPR, AEA, NSSA, Red Cross and YMCA.

In addition to her aquatics background, Kerin and her husband Bob have eleven children and 3 grandchildren. They currently home educate the youngest 6 and, after God and their marriage, their family is unashamedly their top priority. Together they give workshops and presentations at meetings, retreats and conventions on topics related to swimming, home education, parenting and character development. Kerin and her daughter recently wrote a book on water safety which seeks to promote and educate the young child on water safety, parental boundaries, and following rules. Kerin is also an occasional contributor of articles on parenting and swimming to various periodicals.

Jen Morgan

Director of Training and Program Development

Jen, the second of the Morgan children, joins her mom as director of staff and program development. Jen also co authored the children’s book on safety called “Best of All”. Jen is responsible for working with community awareness, program expansion, as well as the hiring and training of staff. Jen has taught swimming for 14 years and is known for her gentle calm voice and assuring touch with all children. Her mom Kerin, considers her the best instructor she has ever encountered and Jens input has helped to improve MSS. Jen competitively swam both YMCA and USSA swimming for 11 years. Her career as an elite competitive swimmer with NOVA of Virginia was cut short by a shoulder injury her junior year of High School. She then left swimming to be a missionary in Honduras for 2.5 years and upon her return completed her degree in Christian Counseling and has chosen to  assist the family with the swim school.

Tim Morgan

Director of Operations

Tim Morgan is the newest full time addition to the family business. He and his wife Emily recently moved back to VA from SC with their three children, ages 4, 2, and 7 months. Tim began working with the swim school as an instructor from 1997-2000 and again in 2002 after being out of state for a year and a half. For the last 6.5 years he has been employed by Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office outside of Charleston, SC, initially as a dispatcher, then moving to patrol deputy, and promoting to detective. While in investigations he worked everything from basic property crimes to homicides. He most recently worked in the Crimes Against Children Unit with the Criminal Investigations Division. He also served collateral duties as a Field Training Officer while working patrol, and was a member of the agencies dive team and SWAT team. While in South Carolina, Tim and Emily started a franchise of Morgan Swim School which began in a similar manner to MSS, nearly doubling in its first two years of business. Tim has been brought on as the Director of Operations, handling all of the business aspects of MSS, and working towards getting us into our own facility as well as assisting with staff training and development. We are excited to have him on board, and particularly excited to have grandchildren now in Richmond!
