Choosing the best class for your child

MSS believes that some criteria will help you decide what class will best serve your child’s needs. Swimming is a progressive skill and good swimmers are produced by consistent instruction the first 6 -8 years of their lives.

Below are some helps:

  • All first time students 2.5 – 4.5 are required to start with the 8 day or Twice a Week Private Blitz.
  • Any age student who exhibits anxiety about submersion or swimming independent of any flotation devices is required to start with the 8 day or Twice a Week Private Blitz.
  • Returning students under 5 should take a Blitz for at least 2-3 summers unless enrolled in MSS year round once a week lessons.
  • A child who has not taken MSS lessons in over a year and are 5 years or under we suggest you begin with another 1 or 2 week Private Blitz and follow that with once a week private or group lessons.
  • If a child is new to MSS but is used to the water, able to swim with face in the water and without flotation devices, and is 5 years or older, they may start with the Group Lessons or a Once a Week Private Blitz.
  • Swimmers needing some stroke improvement will be best served in the Once a week Private lesson.
  • Returning Special needs who have already taken a blitz, will be best served in the Once a week Private lesson.
  • Children who have recently taken a blitz and is anxious to continue will be best served in the Once a week Private or Group lesson.
  • A child that is distracted in the group setting will be best served in the Once a week Private lesson. .
  • Children 3 years who have completed the Blitz in the last 3 months, and who do well in a group setting can continue in Once a Week Group Lessons or Group Blitz Lessons.
